My Baby's First Day of School!

Well we all survived Lily's first day of school today, including her, which I had my doubts. She was so excited to buy her school supplies and put them inside her new backpack, but when we talked to her later that night about how fun school was going to be she started crying saying she didn't want to go. I know Lily does usually get emotional over just about everything, but there is just something about your baby starting public school that makes you emotional as well. She was so upset that she wouldn't know anyone and she really wanted me to stay with her. This just broke my heart, and we did a lot of praying and talking about it the night before.
She woke up this morning all happy and seemed excited about her day until we arrived at her school and it was time for Mommy and Daddy to leave. Let me also just add that Cooper was more than willing to stay, little stinker! So of course I had to leave my crying sweetie in the arms of her very capable teacher. That was probably the longest 2 1/2 hours of my life. I just couldn't wait to get back to her. When we picked her up she was smiling and waving. Her teacher said Lily only cried for a short while and was fine the rest of the day. Wheww! I think she is ready to go back tomorrow, but I am sure we will have similar mornings for a few weeks until she is secure about being there. I think this year was so hard on me because this is the age I taught when I had Lily and now she is attending the school. Time does truly fly by so quickly. We love you Lily and only want the very best for you!

My beautiful Lily posing with her new outfit and backpack
Cooper couldn't be left out, they are just so darn cute!
Lily with her emotional mama, man am I looking huge at only 16 weeks pregnant!
Josh stayed home today, it was really nice having him around and Lily loved having her daddy take her to school today.
Josh let Lily decide where we would eat lunch, so she of course yelled out "Chick-fil-A".
I also wanted to mention that there was a man from the Owasso Reporter in Lily's class room. He was snapping away at all the cute kiddos. He came and asked me Lily's name and mentioned how cute it was that she was crying while the other children were excited. She just may be in the Reporter tomorrow! :0)

I am glad you both survived!! I saw one kid in Austin's class crying and I thought if I was that mom, I would be crying with him. It was much easier leaving him when he wanted to go soooo bad! So I feel for you! She looks beautiful, and I love the picture of you two together.

Yay! I'm so glad Lily had a good day. It will be hard for the first couple of mornings, but will get better. I remember Josh cried his first year of school. It was like for a whole week. Hang in there!

Glad you two survived! I am sure they all get a little emotional at some point! I remember Caden not crying the first week at all last year, but bawling the second week almost daily! Crazy kids!

I'm so glad that Lily had a good first day! She looks so grown up in the pics! I have to agree that it does make you a little emotional when your baby goes off to school for the first time...I was on pins and needles Ian's first day. It does get better though! Oh, and by the way..you look great Ms. Preggo!

Yay for Lily! I'm so happy she was able to calm herself and have a good time. Boy, it's hard to leave them when they cry. Bet all the girls were hatin' on Lily because she is so cute and stylish! Ha! Seriously, she looks adorable and I love her new outfit and her hair and her cute backpack. Oh, and you do not look big - Lily takes after her momma - cute and rockin' her outfit.
